>> ama: good evening, i'm ama daetz. seven people are safe after their boat capsized in the pacific. waves overturned their boat early this afternoon. three people made it to shore safely. two others had to pulled by a rescue shopper. they found two other people trapped inside the cabin. they cut a hole in it to get them. >> after rescuing the children, making contact with the children in the boat and understanding they were alert and conversing, it was a big sense of relief because normally these type of incidents do not turn out as well as they did. this was a happy edged. >> ama: marin county fire department none of people were wearing a life vest when they were rescued. >> right now raley's grocery stores are on strike. they took to the picket lines after contract negotiations broke down.

a reporter tells us what stalled the discussion. >> at 6:00 a.m. three striking union members begin their sunday in solidarity. forming a picket line because of what they say is unfairly fair labor practices. >> we're trying to get a decent contract for the members. the dispute involves about 7,000 union members from grocery workers to meat cutters. 15 months of contract negotiations came to a head and midnight deadline came and went. >> hopefully it will send a message, you can take a little from people but you can't take a lot. >> reporter: they remain at odds over a proposed wage freeze, elimination of extra pay over sunday and holiday shifts. they say we must reduce our operating costs to be more competitive against non-why

union. >> he has worked 34 years in the union and faces the elimination of his healthcare when he zblerts i kind of got kicked in the gut, all those years you work and now it's just taken away from you. >> union members are asking customers to shop at raley's until a fair contract is agreed upon. one customer says she won't come back and crossed the picket line again. >> they have to do to get what they wanted. i understand that. that is the way they have to get people to listen to them. >> they are passing out flyers urging them to shop at other places or other union retailers. contract negotiations are suspended. there are none scheduled for the future.

>> tomorrow a hit-and-run suspect is in jail tonight after a witness helped police track him down. he is suspected suspected of hitting a person after midnight on guerneville road. a witness gave a description of the car. police say they located the car and arrested christian pena of santa rosa for felony hit and run and driving under the influence. police say he is already on probation for a provider conviction. >> a wild exhibit is closed after a toddler was killed. the child fell into a pen for african dogs. she put them on an okay observation deck. he fell 14 feet off the deck and the animals attacked him before zoo keepers could scare them away. they were forced to shoot one of the dogs which is an endangered species. strong winds and cold weather are head towed the east coast as the battered region cleans from up super storm

this that would be solar powered and distributed to other response centers. >> what we are doing is developing low cost portable technology that can be used to connect people in a social media even if the cell towers and internet are down. >> a disaster wi-fi could help neighbors connect each other for help. >> they don't know when this new technology will be available, but this research is being funded by organizations that range from nasa to mobile service providers. disney and abc are making monday a day of giving to victims of the storm. they are kicking off with a $2 million donation to the american red cross. you can help by texting to 90999 to give $10. samsung will match it dollar for dollar. you can donate to the red cross

tonight. keep temperatures in the mid to upper 40s in the north bay. 50s elsewhere across the bay area. high pressure will continue to build in. you see it is keeping the jetstream well to the orthopedic of us. all the rain and storms diverted to the north of us but this high is bringing us those offshore winds, the warm wind direction from land to sea. that is even why our beaches will warm up into the 70s the next several days. near record temperatures monday and tuesday. in fact santa rosa, forecasting 88 degrees. if you see that or feel that, that will be a new record as the old record is 83 set back in 1980. san francisco, 80 tomorrow. that would tie the record at 80 set back in 1993. 84 for livermore tomorrow. redwood city, that could be a new high, 82. old record is 81. we are flirting with those record highs not only for monday

afternoon but right on through tuesday, as well. here is a look at neighborhood temperatures, 88 for santa rosa. 83 for san rafael. richmond, 80 degrees. livermore, 84. 80 in san francisco. 83 for san jose. we'll look for 85 for morgan hill stretching all the way down toward salinas valley, mid to upper 80s and santa cruz and boardwalk, great beach day, 88 degrees. here is the accu-weather seven-day forecast, mild temperatures right three election day. although temperatures will come down a few degrees on tuesday. wednesday, much cooler air mass moves in. we'll drop 20 degrees in some locations. by wednesday, thursday morning, picking up clouds, temperatures in the 60s. rain arrives late that afternoon and spreads over the entire bay area and early friday morning, showers in for saturday.
